Could it be that Benni has a natural gift for book learnin’? He certainly has a more “can do” attitude. Living by your wits at times can make schooling seem easy by comparison!
I’ve always had problems doing math in my head. On paper I have no difficulties. Without it, forget it. Anything with more than 2 digits and I can’t do it at all.
In spite of having a tested IQ of 163. For whatever value you assign to that.

Matter of fact I do some really dumb things at times.
But I annoyed the teacher as they watched me do a math test in that I was wrote down all the answers to the problems, then went back to “show my work”.
She was not impressed that I remembered all that.
As I understand it from reading, around 175, you more-or-less enter the “too smart for your own good” range. (Think Sheldon Cooper).
And, you’re right, I never felt “smart”. But that was also because I had people who effectively made it their life’s mission to demean and belittle me.
In all honestly, tho… looking backwards, how can you consider someone who taught *themselves* to read at age 3, stupid?
