Haha! Everyone over here loves mac n cheese and always has, but I live in CA so that could be why. I always hated it, but we always had it as a side along with a veggie and meat, never as a main meal by itself.
In short in the 90s I grew up in no kid (other than me) would not be crazy for mac n cheese.
Just last week I had Mac and Cheese for my main dinner. Didn’t have much else and was sick of chicken nuggets and other pre-cooked food xD … I don’t really like having to prep for food, cook and especially hate the clean up afterwards, so it’s often just pre-cooked junk for me xD
Your health and waistline as you age will thank you for preparing your own food. Trust me, it seems trivial now, but you’re literally eating harmful garbage that just TASTES good. It’s the main contributor to America’s MASSIVE health problem. Once people age out of their teens, they should start to eat like adults as well. Meals from scratch actually don’t take long at all. I suspect housewives in the 50’s spun that yarn of meals taking HOURS to prepare to make their husbands, who knew nothing about food prep, that they were working just as hard as their husbands,… Read more »
Back in the day, technology wasn’t what it is now, so that probably added to the time it took to cook meals. On top of that, you also have to consider how many people you have to cook for, complexity of the meal, the amount of food, etc. since all of that would also contribute to the preparation time. A simple meal for one person would, of course, take a shorter time to prepare then a meal for an entire family.
This. I grew up with light bill routinely late for like 8 years (as a result 2-3 days without power was normal), never enough money, and we NEVER had mac and cheese as a main meal.Then again, I always lived in Florida (low cost of living), not some super-expensive liberal state so I could see how people in even better financial situations than my family in areas like that were and are reduced to eating that stuff AS a meal instead of WITH one.
