So uplifted (as I sorta understand the mythos of this comic) animals have been given a menstrual cycle in the process. Interesting piece of worldbuilding (very few mammal menstruate, and even less do so with full-on discharge like humans and lose primate relatives).
That’s never really been fully gotten into.
They could be uplifted. They could be humans who were altered. They could be entirely genetically engineered artificial life.
All we really know from their mythos (in-comic) is that the anthros were left behind when whatever happened to Man… happened.

I love Colin’s look in the last panel. He looks almost as absorbed in what Flora’s saying as the kits are.
