Good lesson. Sudden thought: It would be hilarious if before the comic ended the entire town became a nudist colony, reverting back to their natural animal state. I know it won’t but it is a funny thought.
Especially since the religious order we’ve seen on occasion has such a strong influence on everyone in the town. I don’t know much about it but it seems that they have certain accepted practices that prevent the beasts of the town from doing things such as being involved with someone of another species/race. (If you’ll recall the reaction when Colin off-hand mentioned Flora wasn’t a fox a long time ago.)
Wasn’t it Flora that mentioned Colin not being a rabbit to her priest? I’m not sure how much influence the religious order has on the town, though. While other people seem to suggest cross-species isn’t common, outside of extreme people like that priest or that old guy who caught Benni and Tanya, I don’t see it being outright condemned. One nurse confuses Flora for Tanya’s mother in one comic and doesn’t seem to bat an eye at them being different species.

The one way my dad explained it to me when I was little was “ust because I asked you if you wanted tea and you said yes doesn’t mean you’re going to feel like having tea every day, and it’s respectful to ask”.
