If I had to guess given Kalebs naturalist background tendencies with Flora’s family? A cousin.
That would have been my first guess too, if it were any other comic.
Given the type of behavior that seems to be widespread in the are, it’s possible Sammy is someone at school that regularly “forgets” to wear underwear.
Which also implies that the child abuse we’ve run into so far could be *frighteningly* more prevalent than we’ve seen to date.
Okay, I’m not sure if Campion edited it in or if I just missed it, first-read (not an entirely unlikely occurrence) , but it clearly says “Cousin Sammy”. 9_9
Sam is a shortened version of Samuel (boy) and Samantha (girl). Usually, Sammy is a nickname for Samantha. (I do hope that’s the question you were asking.)

Two of my cousins (not siblings to each other, but they have the same last name) are Samantha and Samuel. Both are called Sammy well into their 40s at this point.

It would seem to me that Flora’s been planning on this day for years. She’s awful calm about describing the different body parts. Most parents get nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockers when it comes to talking about sex with their children.

especially if the parents make the first move and start “the talk”. for the kids, however, it’s mostly out of embarrassment. many of them prefer to talk with others about it… friends, teachers, grandparents and even babysitters. you wouldn’t believe how many times i had to explain it and what kind of questions some kids came up with when i was still babysitting.
Funny thing. Despite my curiosity, I never asked anyone any questions concerning sex or sexual activity. Too embarrassed I guess.
Yeah probably. I babysat almost every day of the week for over 15 years. Many of the kids asked, but not all of them of course. If i had to say a number, I’d say about 70% of the kids asked me at some point. 😋

The topic of anatomy, and the functions of, was never a closed or avoided subject in the household I grew up in. This was possibly because I grew up a lot like Flora, sans clothes for the most part, but the basics of what/names/differences were something we were all familiar with since pretty young ages.
Ironically, it made “the talk” kind of boring in our house…
I could believe that. Unfortunately, my parents grew up during the 1930s and 40s in the deep south. Therefore, they were influenced by those factors so, they weren’t too keen on having “the talk” with me and my sister. So, they were happy when our school system took that “problem” off of them.

Talks like this are important, though. Best to get out the misconceptions and questions early and help the kits to be comfortable asking for clarification.

Yes, it is very natural and has nothing to do with sexual arousal, as some might think. Kids of every age get countless erections every day. Mostly unnoticed. It only serves as a reason for the skin to grow with the penis. Otherwise she would tear during puberty with a real erection. 😨
